NC State had an assistant coaching vacancy since Rob Moxley announced in early March that he'd be assuming a new role within the basketball program. One possible replacement is former Oklahoma State and LSU assistant Butch Pierre; in fact there is a "good chance" NCSU will hire Pierre, per ESPN's Jeff Goodman.
Pierre has been in coaching for 30 years, and even served briefly as an assistant for Bobby Lutz at Charlotte. From there, he moved to LSU, where he quickly established a reputation as an outstanding recruiter, helping the Tigers land the likes of Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas, Anthony Randolph, Stromile Swift, Brandon Bass. At Oklahoma State, he was involved in nabbing commitments from five-stars LeBryan Nash and Marcus Smart.
LSU landed four McDonald's All-Americans while Pierre was coaching in Baton Rouge, and he helped Oklahoma State land a couple as well. In every single year as an assistant with the Cowboys, the school landed at least one four-star prospect.

"Butch has a natural touch with people," Hartwell said. "He's very genuine. He's real. He makes you feel like you're family. Kids love him to death. He can relate to parents. They know he's going to take care of their kids."
Sounds like he'd be a nice addition to the staff.
