NC State vs. South Alabama position grades: Everyone did great, really just real great

A fifty point win over South Alabama means this week's position grades are the highest they have been as a whole this season. Each position grade has a lofty grade, as it would be nitpicking to lower any group.

QUARTERBACK
Jacoby Brissett and Jalan McClendon went a combined 21 of 27 for 256 yards, with Brissett throwing for two touchdowns Brissett continued his insane efficiency and even had a few deep passes mixed with some strong runs, with one finding Samuels perfectly down the field for over 40 yards. Another solid week for the signal callers.
GRADE: A-

RUNNING BACK
Once again, the running backs put the offense on their back with seven touchdowns, even with a strong performance in the passing game. Matt Dayes got off to a fast start with a 77 yard touchdown run, finishing with three touchdowns on his eight carries for 104 yards. Shadrach Thornton had a solid performance in his last game as a member of the Pack with over 100 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. He was starting to hit a stride, too. Reggie Gallaspy added two touchdowns and looked strong in his time on the field.
GRADE: A+

WIDE RECEIVER
The receivers were not as important this week with the success in the running game. Oddly, Jumichael Ramos did not have any catches, but appeared to block well. Bra'lon Cherry, Maurice Trowell, and Johnathan Alston combined for four catches and 45 yards, so receivers were a tertiary option on Saturday. Cherry did have a big 33 yard play however.
GRADE: B

TIGHT END
David Grinnage had one catch for 22 yards on a throwback and Cole Cook had his first three career catches after his great blocking has paid off. The tight ends did what was expected of them.
GRADE: B+

OFFENSIVE LINE
A dominating performance against an inferior opponent still warrants a good grade. Redshirt freshman Tyler Jones did an admirable job filling in for Alex Barr and Bryce Kennedy. Joe Thuney was named the ACC's offensive lineman of the week.
GRADE: A

DEFENSIVE LINE
The line held up well and even created a few sacks, a number that was relatively low through three games. Kentavius Street, Mike Rose, Bradley Chubb, and BJ Hill were an excellent foursome throughout. True freshman Darian Roseboro added two sacks in mop-up duty, hopefully a sign of things to come for the touted recruit.
GRADE: A-

LINEBACKERS
Sophomores Jerod Fernandez and Airius Moore had solid performances once again, with Moore particularly effective against the run and Fernandez recording an interception in USA's territory.
GRADE: A-

DEFENSIVE BACKS
A mixed performance from this group, but ultimately not bad. A stronger tackling performance as well as some improvement against the pass was a good sign from the unit. Germaine Pratt had a spectacular interception to stop a dangerous Jaguars drive early on.
GRADE: B+

SPECIAL TEAMS
Cherry was once again extremely dangerous in the punt game, actually increasing his already staggering return average of 20 yards. Nyheim Hines had a long return eventually come back on the first drive of the game as well, and he looks more explosive each game. Kyle Bambard missed a long field goal by inches and is still searching for his confidence. He did convert all 9 PATs however. AJ Cole had another solid performance, averaging over 43 yards per kick.
GRADE: B+
