NC State picked 8th in ACC by media; Cat Barber earns preseason All-ACC second-team nod

The returns are in from ACC media day, and NC State has been picked to finish eighth in the league. Not surprisingly, North Carolina received the bulk of the first-place votes in the 2015 preseason ACC media poll, making the Tar Heels the favorites to win the league. Virginia, Duke, Notre Dame, and Miami round out the top five.

Here are the results of the voting, via TheACC.com:

Team & Points (first-place votes)

1. North Carolina (60): 1292
2. Virginia (18): 1226
3. Duke (8): 1187
4. Notre Dame (1): 949
5. Miami: 841
6. Florida State (1): 827
7. Louisville: 821
8. NC State: 808
9. Syracuse (1): 666
10. Pitt: 623
11. Wake Forest: 391
12. Clemson: 359
13. Georgia Tech: 296
14. Virginia Tech: 260
15. Boston College: 134

OKAY WHO GAVE SYRACUSE A FIRST-PLACE VOTE. The total lack of respect for Pitt is interesting as well, at least when you compare this predicted order of finish to what the Pomeroy Ratings cooked up.

NC State's position at eighth is essentially in line with what both Pomeroy and Sports Illustrated are projecting. Whatcha think?

On the individual side, Malcolm Brogdon and Marcus Paige are the preseason co-Players of the Year. Cat Barber earned a selection on the All-ACC second team.
