For the first time in 2015, NC State enters a regular season game as the underdog. Virginia Tech opened as a narrow two-point favorite to beat the Wolfpack, per Vegas Insider, but that line has already dipped to VT -1.5. Another close, low-scoring game is a distinct possibility.
NC State is not getting a break in terms of the opposing defense. If Louisville's tough unit gave the Pack a hard time, there's a pretty good chance the Hokies will as well. Virginia Tech has an excellent defensive front capable of stifling the Pack's ground game and/or sending Matt Canada into bizarro play-calling mode. (For the love of jeff, let's please not go there again.)
The Hokies have been playing without starting quarterback Michael Brewer since he suffered an injury during the team's season-opening loss to Ohio State, and not surprisingly, the results from there have been up and down. Virginia Tech is 2-3 overall and is coming into the week off a 17-13 loss to Pittsburgh.
