Arkansas guard Jimmy Whitt announced his decision to transfer last week, and he's already got an impressive list of suitors. Per CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, Whitt has heard from NC State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Whitt, a freshman, will sit out 2016-17 and have three year of eligibility remaining.
Coming out of high school, he was a consensus four-star prospect and ranked in the top 100 (No. 68). So no doubt he's got the talent to compete at the power-conference level, though he didn't play a bunch as a freshman, logging only 17.2 minutes per game. Which may be why Whitt felt it was time for him to "make a change." Never know with the kids these days, man. Plenty of top-100 kids get to college with overly ambitious expectations.
Whitt, who is listed at 6'4 and 173 pounds, didn't score efficiently in 2016, mainly because he insisted on taking the vast majority of his shots inside the arc. He made only 38.8% of his 178 two-point attempts. He was even worse against top-100 opponents.
Seems like he should be able to expand his game outward though--he made nearly 80% of his free throws, so he has good touch, and the dude did make 37.5% of his 16 three-point tries. And obviously there are plenty of (very good) coaches confident that he'll improve.
