NC State wide receiver Brian Sessoms our for season after tearing Achilles

NC State announced Saturday afternoon that redshirt freshman wide receiver Brian Sessoms tore an Achilles tendon in practice, which will keep him out for the entire 2016 season. The Wolfpack is now down two players are receiver—it lost Jumichael Ramos to a knee injury before camp started.

It’s not clear where Sessoms would have fit into the depth chart if he were healthy, but his elite speed is not something that can be replaced. He was a good player for the scout team offense in 2015 and could have translated that into a solid season as a secondary contributor in 2016.

Whether or not Sessoms was going to be a significant contributor this season, this is a blow for a position group that doesn’t have much proven depth. Just about the last thing this State team needs is attrition at receiver, so of course, the two players who’ve suffered severe injuries up to this point are receivers.

I am going to have to put my foot down and insist there be no more injuries suffered by the football team this year.
