NC State pursuing UNC-Asheville transfer Dylan Smith

Dylan Smith recently opted to hit the eject button at UNC-Asheville, and in the days since he's heard from several power-conference schools, including NC State. Smith led the Bulldogs in scoring as a freshman last season with 13.5 points per game.

Blessed for this list of schools to have contacted me so far! No particular order btw. http://pic.twitter.com/U9cTm0YxjA

He's not wasting any time getting into the recruiting process, either. It's been only a couple of days since he announced his departure from UNCA on Twitter, and he's been in Blacksburg this weekend visiting Virginia Tech.

He's already spoken with both Mark Gottfried and new assistant coach Heath Schroyer (along with a bunch of other coaches).

Smith is listed at 6'5 and 170 pounds. He's a combo guard who should be a good three-point shooter throughout the rest of his career. As a freshman, he hit 34.1% from deep, but I would expect that number to improve considering the touch he showed at the free throw line (82.3%). He'll need to improve on his ugly two-point shooting (39.8%) at his next stop.

Smith will sit out the 2016-17 season as an undergraduate transfer and have three years of eligibility remaining.
