NC State forward target Darius Hicks making college pick on Friday

NC State just hosted 2016 forward Darius Hicks over the weekend, and he is now just a few days from making a decision. Hicks has also visited Cincinnati, and it appears the decision will be between those two schools. (Seems like we're running into Cincinnati a lot these days.)

2016 PF Darius Hicks will make his college choice on Friday, source told @CBSSports. Recently visited both NC State and Cincinnati.

He originally was going to announce this past Saturday, and NC State wasn't even in his list of finalists then. State getting him to push that date back and get him on campus seems like a positive sign, but who knows with these things, man.

Hicks, who is 6'7 and 210 pounds, was originally a Mississippi State pledge but opened things back up after the Bulldogs made a coaching change. He holds offers from several power-conference programs, including FSU, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, and Penn State.

He's a consensus three-star prospect, with a national composite ranking of 168. Here's an assessment of his abilities from Scout.com:

Hicks is very strong, very explosive and at 6-7 (at most) is able to compensate for less-than-ideal height with power and athleticism. He projects as a versatile defender, high-efficiency finisher and someone who has the body to battle inside from day one on campus.

Hey, being tall is overrated, anyhow. If he can bring some defense and rebound at a decent rate, that'd be good enough for me.
