Cat Barber scores 13 points and dishes 6 assists in first NBA Combine scrimmage

The NBA Combine is underway in Chicago and runs through the end of this weekend. The NBA's combine bears some resemblance to the NFL's--kids get poked and prodded and measured--but it also diverges significantly by offering prospects a chance to scrimmage.

Cat Barber participated in a five-on-five scrimmage Thursday and finished with a solid line. He scored 13 points on 5-10 shooting, with six assists and three rebounds. He hit three of his four free throw attempts. That's not a bad start for a player who is trying to work his way up draft boards, and trying to do it under the pressure that implies.

Barber is projected to go 57th overall to the Memphis Grizzlies in Draft Express' most recent mock draft. It's gonna be interesting to see how he ends up judged by NBA teams, but it feels like if he isn't drafted, then somebody's made a mistake.

Mark Gottfried is in Chicago to offer his support.
