NC State gets timely re-match with Florida State

It's a quick turnaround for the Wolfpack, which is heading into a week of staring missed opportunities in a mirror. The first stop is Florida State. The Seminoles have an excellent freshman duo. The Seminoles are pretty good. Could wind up in the NCAAs. But, well ...

FSU Offense -- Four Factors eFG% TO% OR% FT Rate
2015-16 Overall (National Rank) 51.1 (114) 19.1 (226) 32.7 (81) 40.3 (95)
2015-16 ACC Only (Conf. Rank) 50.1 (6) 20.0 (13) 32.2 (8) 39.0 (4)

Florida State has good components, just not the mix of a full team. The Seminoles have been considerably better from three-point range in ACC games, but there is otherwise nothing at this end worth mention. The outside shooting is probably the x-factor going forward. Can they hold out for another 10 games? The re-adjustment can come quickly.

The peripherals are not there for FSU. The Noles have talented freshmen, and they've shot well from outside, but some level of that support will collapse, and that'll be the end. This might be two games from now, it might be mid-March, but it's gonna happen. There are too many problems. But again, this is a team a year ahead of schedule.

FSU Defense -- Four Factors eFG% TO% OR% FT Rate
2015-16 Overall (National Rank) 48.8 (128) 19.5 (100) 28.8 (122) 34.2 (116)
2015-16 ACC Only (Conf. Rank) 48.5 (5) 18.0 (8) 35.2 (13) 36.7 (9)

You can take the larger picture and feel bad about how NC State played against FSU in Raleigh. That's fair. So are the odds on this game, in either direction.

The Pomeroy Predictor likes FSU by seven.
