NFL Combine 2016: Five NC State players invited to workouts

Aside from the post-season all-star games like the Senior Bowl, no event is more important for aspiring NFL players than the Combine, which will run from Feb. 23 through Feb. 29. Five NC State players have been invited to the event, including quarterback Jacoby Brissett, offensive lineman Joe Thuney, cornerback Juston Burris, running back Shadrach Thornton, and tight end David Grinnage.

All of those guys have the opportunity to make themselves some money with strong showings, or in some cases, simply move themselves into the draft. Grinnage, who left early, and Thornton, who was kicked off the team in 2015, might have the most to prove among the five.

Grinnage ended up being used little in the passing game this season, so he doesn't have a lot of film for scouts to consult. And Thornton will need to answer questions about his character after the way his career at NC State ended. All part of being picked over by a fine-toothed comb by a bunch of old NFL scouts. Sounds like fun to me!
