NC State is heading to Charlotte as the underdog to some Bulldogs, who are the ... er ... overdogs? My point here is dogs. Mississippi State opened as a seven-point favorite to beat the Wolfpack in the Belk Bowl, but since that initial posting, the line's come down to MSU -5.5.
Mississippi State is one on nine SEC teams (out of 10) heading into the bowl season as a favorite. As usual, the SEC is getting a lot of respect, not that I'm saying it's unjustified in this case. Dak Prescott is obviously a tough matchup for NC State's defense, and I don't need to recount the Pack's struggles against quarterbacks with his type of skillset.
With that said, what's become clear to me at first glance is that the Bulldogs do not have Jaylen Samuels. I'd imagine that's why the line began to creep back in NC State's direction--the Vegas folks had failed to fully comprehend the gap between these teams at the Jaylen Samuels position.
