NC State is a 17-point favorite against Syracuse this week, per Vegas Insider. The line on this game was delayed while the sharps tried to make sense of Syracuse's quarterback situation, and although the Orange haven't made any announcements on that front, it's looking less likely that starter Eric Dungey will be ready to go.
The Orange lost incumbent starter Terrel Hunt to major injury early in the season, which opened the door for Dungey's rather inconspicuous breakout season. If Dungey is out again this week, Syracuse will have to start third-stringer Zack Mahoney, who was last seen doing an admirable job against Clemson over the weekend.
Syracuse couldn't make enough plays to pull off the upset over the Tigers, and with that loss, the Orange were guaranteed a losing season. There is a significant emotional let down factor in play this week with Syracuse on the road for a game that's been rendered meaningless. Syracuse has also lost seven games in a row.
Those indicators suggest that Syracuse can be broken early on Saturday, that is if NC State is willing to cooperate.
