NC State shooting guard Terry Henderson out 6-8 weeks with ankle injury

This weekend really took a turn for NC State sports over the last 24 hours. I mean this went real bad in a hurry. Wolfpack starting shooting guard Terry Henderson missed most of NC State's opener on Friday night after injuring his ankle, and unfortunately, it's much worse than we'd hoped: the school announced Saturday that he'll miss 6-8 weeks with torn ligaments in the ankle.

It's obviously a significant blow to NC State's season since the team was counting on Henderson to help replace Trevor Lacey's production.  Not to mention that the team was already thin in the backcourt.

If Henderson misses exactly six weeks, that'll place his return on Dec. 26th. In that case, he'll miss 10 games. If it's eight weeks, the return would come on Jan. 9, and he'd miss a total of 13 games, including the first two league games. Not exactly ideal circumstances in either case.

But NC State has no choice but to move on without him, and this will force freshman Maverick Rowan and the Martins into larger roles. Time for somebody to step up, because there are still a lot of winnable games in the next eight weeks, and this team can ill afford heading into conference play needing to make up significant ground in the win column.
