NC State beats Tennessee State in overtime, 67-55

I guess this is okay?

Well, I should say that, I mean, what I’m saying here is ... good job? NC State needed overtime to beat Tennessee State in Reynolds Coliseum on Saturday evening, but the Wolfpack ended up winning by a comfortable 67-55 margin.

It was a strange, frustrating evening for the Pack, which obviously wanted to come out and play well in its return to Reynolds Coliseum. Things did not work out well, as both the Pack and the Tigers struggled throughout regulation to score from the field.

BeeJay Anya played like a man possessed during the first half, perhaps pushed by a little trash talk from guys on TSU—Anya was both effective from the field and decent at the line, and he supplied some very very necessary points at crucial times. Yeah, that’s confusing, but hey, we’ll take what we can get.

Foul trouble plagued the frontcourt, which was part of the reason why Anya was so important. Ted Kapita and Malik Abu struggled against Tennessee State’s defense and for once, it was Anya who served as calming presence up front.

Terry Henderson helped provide the difference in overtime, potting a key three-pointer and then knocking down four straight free throws after TSU was called for a technical.

All of this, and I mean every damn bit of it, was far from ideal. But we’re livin’, folks.
