T.J. Warren throws down game-winning dunk in OT as Suns beat Pelicans

Tony Buckets is making a lot of big plays this season.

T.J. Warren isn’t wasting any time this season establishing himself as an important part of the Phoenix Suns. Against New Orleans on Friday night, Warren delivered the game-winning basket for Phoenix on a well-timed backdoor cut late in overtime.

And that is some vintage T.J. Warren right there. He gets his defender to commit just a bit too far and in an instant he’s spun around and sealed his man and is on his way in for a dunk. Pretty good catch, too. This stuff can’t surprise me anymore, but his mix of skill and instinct is always incredible to watch.

Warren had actually been having a pretty tough night prior to this basket (he scored 18 points on 4-17 shooting for the game), but on the season, he’s hitting 46% of his field goal attempts and 85% of his free throw attempts. With an average over 21 points per game, Warren has been one of the top 25 scorers in the NBA through the first handful of regular season contests.
