NC State forward Ted Kapita will not travel with team to Paradise Jam due to visa issues

why does this crap have to happen, man

Rumors emerged Monday that Ted Kapita might not be able to travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands because of a possible issue with his student visa. Those rumors, unfortunately, proved true. Kapita will not be with the Wolfpack for its three games in the Paradise Jam this weekend.

From the N&O’s Joe Giglio:

NC State will have to play Paradise Jam without freshman forward Ted Kapita due to issues with his student visa

Long story short: Kapita could leave US but might have trouble getting back in. NC State ultimately decided it wasn't worth the risk

This is an unfortunate turn of events all around, as Kapita just made his debut on Sunday. He needs experience. And NC State really could have used him this weekend, since the Pack could end up playing its toughest non-conference game of the season (against Creighton in the semifinals of the tourney).

So anyway this is where we all insert the heavy sighs.

Kapita played really well on Sunday, scoring 17 points and grabbing eight rebounds. With Omer Yurtseven still serving a suspension, NC State will have to get through the Paradise Jam with a forward rotation of Abdul-Malik Abu, BeeJay Anya, and Darius Hicks.
