4-star guard Thomas Allen signs with NC State

The Garner product makes it official.

Thomas Allen made his commitment to NC State official on Wednesday, which is the first day of the early signing period for many sports, including basketball. Allen, who has been committed to the Pack since early October, is one of the top in-state prospects in the 2017 recruiting class.

Allen, a consensus four-star recruit and a top-5 player in North Carolina, held lots of quality offers and eventually picked NC State over Ohio State, Virginia Tech, St. Louis, and Nebraska.

He’s spending his final high school season at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.

This is only the beginning for NC State’s 2017 recruiting efforts—as usual, Mark Gottfried and staff are pursuing a lot of high-profile players, and those recruiting battles can last well into the spring. (As we have seen plenty of times before.)

It’s a great start to get Allen officially in the fold, though, especially with the Pack likely having to replace a couple of key players at guard next season.
