MORE THAN 20 WILDFIRES CONTINUE TO BURN IN WESTERN NC (TWCN-TV) -- Thousands of acres continue to burn in western North Carolina as wildfires rip through the drought-stricken region. More than 20 wildfires continue to burn across the Appalachian Mountains as dry conditions and wind make the job even more difficult for firefighters. Evacuations -- some mandatory and some voluntary -- were expanded to those living in portions of Henderson, Buncombe and Rutherford counties.
