Dodging bullets: always a good thing
NC State got off to a fast start to the season on Friday night but ended up in a fight with Georgia Southern, and y’know what, that is okay. That is entirely fine. The Wolfpack finished the night by holding on for an 81-79 victory.
Dennis Smith can’t be everything to everybody all the time. He had a rough debut, finishing with 11 points on 3-13 shooting. I suspect he will be okay.
Terry Henderson scored 23, though he was only 3-11 from deep, and Maverick Rowan added 17. Malik Abu grabbed 11 boards to go with his 15 points. NC State needs to be much better on the glass moving forward, but that’s a discussion for another day. Today we got the victory and that’s plenty. As anybody will tell you, you can’t lose a game and go undefeated, it’s just not possible. We are undefeated.
