NC State prepping for possibility of season without Yurtseven, Kapita

Don’t do this to me, NCAA.

With less than a month (!) to go before the regular season begins, NC State basketball is still waiting on the NCAA to determine the eligibility status of freshmen forwards Omer Yurtseven and Ted Kapita. Both were highly-ranked recruits, and Yurtseven especially is expected to contribute immediately.

But Mark Gottfried is also trying to prepare for the worst-case scenario, as Jon Rothstein reports. NC State has been practicing both with those two players and without them, which is not exactly ideal at this point, but there’s not much else the staff can do.

Gottfried told Rothstein that he’s Yurtseven and Kapita are “two of our top seven or eight players,” so in other words he expects both to be rotation regulars. We all assumed as much about Yurtseven given his NBA Draft hype, but this gives us a much better idea of what we might see from Kapita.

If he gets to play.

Keep those fingers crossed.
