NC State a three-score underdog to Louisville

Challenge accepted! Because we have to. Because that’s how football schedules work.

Well, the oddsmakers clearly were not impressed with NC State’s effort in Clemson over the weekend. Or they’re just anticipating an emotionally damaged Wolfpack team will be prone to folding in another difficult road trip. Louisville opened as a 21-point favorite in some sportsbooks on Sunday, though that line has been shrinking since then.

The Cardinals had a surprisingly difficult time with Duke on Friday night—they were better in every facet but also played with some surprising inconsistency at times. Lamar Jackson ran for 144 but completed only half of his pass attempts.

Jackson is an entirely different sort of challenge than Deshaun Watson, who is far more refined throwing the ball and not nearly as frightening when running it. NC State did a decent job against Watson, and if the Pack can also find a way to slow Jackson down, then maybe this team really is on to something.

Vegas ain’t buying that one yet, however.
