Ah, National Signing Day, the culmination of college football's second season, and the one day of the year when the nation's fax machines will receive a lot of attention. All the traveling, the hand-shakin', the in-home visits, the last-ditch pushes ... it comes down to one big day.

Wednesday, Feb. 3. That's tomorrow yay!
What is National Signing Day, anyway?
It's the first day that committed players are allowed to sign a letter of intent. A lot of players fax in their paperwork to their college of choice early in the morning. Some kids like to have a ceremony at their high school to celebrate them making their college choice official. A lot of elite players like to wait to announce their college choice on signing day, because they're gonna get a lot of attention. Plus the suspense makes middle-aged message board denizens across the country sweat profusely.
Do players have to sign on National Signing Day?
They do not. Some recruits in the past have actually drawn out their recruitment past NSD, but that is uncommon. The vast majority of prospects sign their paperwork and submit it on NSD.
Is there going to be any TV coverage?
Is there! ESPNU will be live beginning at 8 a.m. ET on Wednesday and players will be making their choices live on-air throughout the day. Eleven hours of live coverage will be spread across ESPNU and ESPN2. ESPN has also sent reporters to 15 campuses across the country, presumably to interview the fax machines. The SEC Network and Longhorn Network are also airing live National Signing Day specials.
What should NC State expect from Wednesday?
The Wolfpack's class is essentially finished, so it should be a rather quiet event for Dave Doeren and his staff. There is one possible high-profile addition State could make Wednesday morning--four-star cornerback Carlos Becker is announcing his choice, and the Wolfpack is in the mix. Unfortunately, he appears to be a Florida State lean.
Aside from that, it's always a possibility that someone will have a change of heart at the very last second. That doesn't happen often. College basketball has an unwritten rule that says coaches should back off once a player is committed to a school. There is essentially no recruiting etiquette in college football, so coaches will be workin' the twitters and the phones and whatnot to try to poach kids and fill last-minute holes. It's all part of the NSD circus!
Is NC State planning any special events?
Yes--fans have the opportunity to join the coaching staff at the State Club from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a celebration of the recruiting class. Dave Doeren will also hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m. to discuss his new additions.
