NC State DB Bryce Banks arrested for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance

Darn it.

NC State defensive back Bryce Banks, who is coming off his redshirt freshman season, was arrested Tuesday in his home state of Missouri. Banks was stopped by police because of an expired registration and later officers found almost 50 Xanax pills in the car. Banks was arrested for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

It is unclear what impact if any this will have on his status with the NC State football program, and the school has yet to take any disciplinary action. Associate AD Fred Demarest said the school “will continue to gather information and proceed in accordance with our student-athlete policy.”

Banks has been moved from corner to nickel for 2017 and is listed on the spring depth chart as a co-starter at that position along with Freddie Phillips and Trae Meadows. Which means he definitely could be a contributor on the field this fall, depending on how the competition at that spot works itself out. And depending on how his legal situation sorts out, of course.
