NC State fires strength and conditioning coach Jason Veltkamp, promotes Dantonio Burnette

Is this ... okay? Are we okay? I don't know if we're okay or not.

Another day, another change to the NC State football staff. The school announced Monday afternoon that head strengthening and conditioning coach Jason Veltkamp will not be retained. Veltkamp will be replaced by Dantonio Burnette, the former NC State linebacker who had been working as an assistant in the strength and conditioning program.

Veltkamp had been with NC State since Dave Doeren's arrival, and in fact was recognized last May by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association, which named him a "Master Strength and Conditioning Coach."  Per State's release at that time, the designation is the highest honor in the profession.

Hey, I'm over here shrugging too, man; that type of thing is convenient right up until it isn't anymore. Who knew the "change in direction" thing would extend this far down? Veltkamp tweeted this out on Sunday, and it makes a lot more sense now:

I've got your back, no matter what. @IronWolfpack http://pic.twitter.com/w1oDJUcoND

I've got no idea if this is a good move or not. We'll see.
