Georgetown transfer Isaac Copeland will visit NC State this week

State is one of nine schools that the Raleigh native is considering.

Georgetown transfer forward Isaac Copeland will be in Raleigh Wednesday for NC State’s game against Virginia Tech, per CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Copeland announced in December that he was leaving the Georgetown program.

Gottfried was one of many head coaches who recruited the former top-50 prospect out of high school, and Copeland has a list of nine schools he is considering as transfer destinations, including the Wolfpack.

Although technically a junior, Copeland is applying for a medical redshirt that would grant him an extra year of eligibility, meaning he would have two years to play at his next school. (After sitting out 2017-18.)

The other schools on Copeland’s list includes Kansas, UConn, and Texas so this may be a difficult recruiting battle. Between Copeland’s familiarity with Gottfried and his Raleigh roots, though NC State should have a decent shot. And it is never a bad sign when a kid decides to visit your school.
