Dave Doeren talks ECU matchup, cleaning up mistakes, and the stakes of this week’s game

One of the talking points that always seems to come up in the days leading up to a matchup between State and UNC, or State and ECU, or ECU and UNC is which team cares about it more. It’s very important to clarify which team cares about it more, as that is obviously the inferior program! Very important topic. Then folks can neatly fit the results of one of these games into their established opinion in re: the cares.

Dave Doeren has been stuck in just such a conversation this week after some earlier comments he made suggested that this week’s game means more to ECU. He was asked about that on Thursday.

(Media Q&A video via Pack Pride.)

His response:

I don't feel that way at all. It's a huge game. It's the next game on our schedule. It's an in-state game. It's a pride game. It's a very important game to our guys and to our staff. I don't feel that way at all.

I really don’t care if he feels that way as long as it has no bearing on the Wolfpack’s performance.
