NC State takes series from FSU, remains in purgatory

Baseball remains disappointment child.

This season, it’s felt like NC State is perpetually six feet deep and shoveling out dirt as it falls in. The Wolfpack took two of three from Florida State this weekend with wins on Saturday and Sunday. NC State is now 7-8 in league play, putting the Pack in a tie for fourth in the Atlantic.

At 18-15 (7-8), very little has changed: NC State needs to put some sort of winning streak together in order to establish solid footing for both the ACC and NCAA tournaments. Next weekend would be a good place to start, what with a road trip to Chapel Hill.

This is still a disadvantageous position for the baseball team, and yet there is still a lot of opportunity for the taking. That’s been their thing, though—provide themselves with some hope and then go and lose to some inferior teams. They’ve got to cut the gross mid-week losses and they’ve got to pick up a decent road series win. Do that and maybe they are back in business.
