Cat Barber and the Pelicans open Vegas Summer League against the Lakers on ESPN

Cat Barber didn't get selected in the 2016 NBA Draft, but he has an opportunity over the next couple of weeks to prove to some teams that they done made a terrible mistake. Barber quickly signed with the New Orleans Pelicans after the draft, and he'll play in his first summer league game on Friday.

Coincidentally enough, that first game is against the Lakers, which happen to have Trevor Lacey on the roster for the summer.

Some of the other notables playing alongside Barber with New Orleans: Buddy Hield, Ryan Boatright, and Cheick Diallo. Oh, and Larry Drew II is on that team. UCLA legend Larry Drew II!

The Pelicans-Lakers contest starts at 10:30 p.m. ET on Friday and will air nationally on ESPN, making it our first opportunity to see Cat since he left NC State. The Pelicans' second game, which is on Sunday, will air on NBA TV. Their third game--on Monday--will be on ESPN2.
