College football TV Schedule, Week 3: Matchups, kickoff times, channel information

Last week the schedule was pretty light on compelling matchups (though there were a lot of entertaining games anyway), but that is not the case this week, beginning with the FSU-Louisville showdown at noon ET. Not really sure how that ended up being a nooner, but I'll take it since it's not going to conflict with NC State's game.

Also in the noon slot is Miami-App, and based on what we've seen from the Mountaineers thus far, they are plenty capable of winning this game. Plus, the U's players are likely to receive some degree of contact high from the crowd in Boone, which can only help ASU.

Alabama-Ole Miss highlights the mid-afternoon slot, while Ohio State-Oklahoma and Michigan State-Notre Dame highlight the night games. There are several potentially interesting games Saturday night, with a mild chance of #Pac12AfterDark.

NC State receiver Nyheim Hines not expected to play against Old Dominion

A little worrisome, but the Pack can afford to miss him this week.

NC State wide receiver and kickoff return specialist Nyheim Hines is unlikely to play on Saturday night against Old Dominion, per the N&O’s Joe Giglio. Hines is nursing an ankle injury, the severity of which is unknown.

This could all be precautionary, since the Wolfpack should have little trouble getting past Old Dominion whether or not Hines is in the lineup. NC State is off the following weekend, so Hines has extra time, if he needs it, to get well for the start of conference play. And we are definitely going to need him at that point.

Through two games, Hines has seven grabs for 70 yards and four carries for 22 yards. He’s also averaging 20 yards per kickoff return. We’ll have to wait at least one more game for his first big explosive play of the season.

In the meantime this is a good opportunity for some of State’s inexperienced wide receivers to get more run.

Friday News: Bringing home the family bacon

McCrory's rhetoric now just chanting "North Carolina!" over and over again

This is just embarrassing:

“I’ve got to assume it’s politics because this is the No. 1 state in the presidential campaign, this is the No. 1 gubernatorial race in the United States of America,” McCrory said. “I can’t prove that, but why would they not be doing this in Texas right now?”

“We’re going to plug on,” McCrory said. “North Carolina is resilient. North Carolina is strong. North Carolina is inclusive. North Carolina is welcoming. And I am going to defend North Carolina.”

Because the more you blurt out the name of your state, the more it proves your love. In reality, this sounds more like a guy who knows his girlfriend is about to break up with him than a confident elected official. Geez.

NC State women's basketball team announces 2016-17 schedule

In case you've forgotten, there's more than one basketball team on campus with exciting prospects for the 2016-17 season. The Wolfpack Women are coming off a good year that ended with an NCAA tournament snub and are loading up with a talented recruiting class led by Aislinn Konig, who should be an immediate impact player at guard.

State dropped resume-defining games it probably should have won on a few occasions last season and will have an early opportunity to prove that won't be the case in 2017. Tough start to league play, and Notre Dame and Louisville are on a tier above everybody, but with Duke and Carolina fading this is not an especially deep league.

Wes Moore's crew has a pretty good shot at improving on their 10-6 ACC record last season, and if they do, there shouldn't be any doubt about their place in the NCAAs.
