College football schedule, Week 8: Kickoff times, TV channels

It doesn’t feel like the season is this old.

College football season always go by too quickly, probably because we spend all week looking ahead to Saturday. (For football reasons and others.) Most teams have fewer regular season games ahead of them than they do behind them by now, but it seems like Week 2 was yesterday.

There isn’t much to monitor during the early slate this week other than NC State’s game against Louisville. Unless you hate yourself and have to check out Syracuse-BC. (Note: I will totally be checking in on that game.)

Later another theoretically top-10 team will attempt to beat Alabama, and probably will not be any more successful. The Tide are three-score favorites to beat Texas A&M.

It’s a light day for the ACC, with only three games on the docket. I guess everybody took their vacation days at once here. Gonna be lonely at the office!

NC State vs. Louisville: How to watch, game time, TV channel, online streaming, odds, and more

All the info you need to catch the game.

NC State returns to action with another huge challenge in Louisville, though at least the atmosphere shouldn't be as difficult. All the other stuff: probably just as difficult. Louisville still has playoff aspirations despite a loss to Clemson and will likely keep the Cards from playing in the ACC title game. They'd certainly be in the discussion as a one-loss team.

Soooo, y'know, they're probably gonna try real hard and stuff to beat the Wolfpack. Very annoying, but not everyone can be November Boston College, I suppose.

State, meanwhile, is looking for some redemption and has a chance to do it on the national network stage once again. All they gotta do is stop the best football player in the country. No sweat.

NC State vs. Louisville

Kickoff: Noon ET

TV: ABC (Bob Wischusen, Brock Huard, Allison Williams)

Internet streaming: WatchESPN/ACC Network Extra (these are the same thing, basically)

Odds: Louisville -19.5

Radio: Wolfpack Sports Network

Forecast: 100% chance of football

What would a win over Louisville mean for NC State

NC State missed a chance at maybe the biggest win in school history but has a big shot at redemption Saturday in Louisville. Facing a second straight top ten team on the road is a rare situation that most teams would fear.

The Wolfpack could easily be down and out after blowing such a great chance, but there has to be some confidence after arguably outplaying the Tigers. A win over the Cardinals would be among the top 5 or 10 wins in recent Pack history and the largest in the Dave Doeren era by a wide margin. Now, winning a game as 20 point underdogs on the road is near impossible, so I am not counting any chickens before they hatch. But, as we saw last week, anything can happen.

On top of purely historic implications, it could be the boost that the team needs heading into the back half of the season. At 4-2, State sits about where most expected, even if the road there was the unexpected one. A win, or maybe even a decent showing, in Louisville could give the team confidence heading into what has become a suddenly more winnable final stretch. Boston College at home on Homecoming Weekend should be a win, with the Eagles still not winning a conference game in the last two years. Despite Syracuse beating Virginia Tech last week, the Wolfpack are still a stronger team and have had success against the Orange. Florida State and Miami are both vulnerable after seeing their initial season goals go down with a few bad losses. UNC is having a good season, but not so great that they are unbeatable in the season finale.

Winning three of these games would mean a marquee win and a 7 win season. Whereas two weeks ago many people were discussing Dave Doeren's job security, now this season could be a building block to a successful tenure in Raleigh. Obviously a lot of factors are at play, but pulling out a win in Louisville could kickstart a big growth in the Wolfpack program.

Sue Googe Aiming for Upset

It’s one of the most Democratic congressional districts in the state, but Sue Googe is fighting to become the first Republican to represent the Fourth District since 1997. The Fourth District was made much more compact in the recent special session redistricting; it no longer extends down to Fayetteville and now consists of Orange County, […]

NC State vs. Louisville: Take your best shot at picking the score between the Pack and Cards

Who’s afraid of the big bad Lamar Jackson?

NC State closes out its October road game gauntlet with Louisville on Saturday. (Can we blame this on the state fair somehow? No? Darn.) State is once again the prohibitive underdog and it is going to take one heck of an effort on the road to beat the nation’s top player.

Which we will do! We’re gonna win. I’m just sure of it.***

Tied to Trump

Last night, Donald Trump showed exactly how badly he and his campaign have melted down. At the Al Smith Dinner in New York City, Trump attacked Hillary Clinton at a venue that was supposed to be relatively civil. He received boos from an audience of his fellow New Yorkers, many of whom were probably Republicans. […]
